EMS Week May 19-25

May 19th marks the start of EMS week, as well as the 50th anniversary of this national celebration. EMS week takes place from May 19-25 in honor of our country’s brave EMTs, paramedics and other personnel, who are always first on the scene of an accident or emergency.  

As we begin the week, I want to take a moment to recognize the EMS professionals here in Giles County.  Any job in healthcare requires extraordinary dedication, but providing emergency care takes a special kind of courage and selflessness. Our local EMS teams work day and night on the front lines of medicine, reaching out to the community, providing life-saving treatment, and being there for our patients in moments of crisis. They exemplify what it means to be making communities healthier. 

This week, take the opportunity to reach out to any EMS workers in your life. Whether they are friends, neighbors, or colleagues, they deserve our recognition for the incredible work they do all year round.  

To all our local EMS team members and partners: I admire and appreciate the incredible commitment you show, each and every day. Your hard work is remembered in every life you’ve saved, every family you’ve kept together, and every person you’ve helped through the hardest of times.
