STRHS Pulaski Names 2024 Mercy Award Winner
June 10, 2024
STRHS Pulaski recently announced that Education Coordinator, Kirsten Nelms has been recognized as the facility’s 2024 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
Established in 2001, the Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.
“At STRHS, we are committed to advancing Lifepoint’s mission of making communities healthier, and our devoted team members are critical to this work – especially Kirsten,” said Jason Fugleberg, CEO of STRHS Pulaski. “We are so proud to recognize her positive contributions to improving the overall health of our patients, supporting our team members, and serving our community. Kirsten always goes the extra mile to meet any need that may arise and is a true champion of our caring culture here at our hospital in Pulaski.”
Nelms is known as a leader at STRHS-Pulaski who embodies LifePoint Health's core values inside and outside the hospital. Transitioning from a travel nurse to a full-time employee, Kirsten serves as the Education Coordinator and has made significant improvements in employee engagement and safety culture. Kirsten's compassion and dedication led her to complete training as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), greatly benefiting the local community and encouraging her peers to complete the same training. She is highly organized and compassionate and always prioritizes the team's needs. In addition, Kirsten has spearheaded charitable initiatives, raising over $1,000 in donations to community-focused charities.
Each facility winner, including Nelms, will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2024 companywide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August.
